WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Central High School seniors Caitlin Brooks and Curtis Patton were selected by the high school faculty as Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for September.

Brooks, daughter of Carl and Valerie Brooks, Rolling Meadows Road, Waynesburg, maintains a 4.0 grade-point average.

She is a member of National Honor Society, drama club, Alpha, Spanish club, varsity club, show choir, concert choir, honor guard, principal’s council, FCA, youth alive, lettermen’s club and a four-year member of the track team.

She received highest honors awards in civics, advanced algebra, earth science, English, Spanish, advanced biology, physics and American history.

Brooks was selected for the all-county choir festival, received the Joseph Ayersman American Legion History Award and medaled in the WPIAL track championship.

Outside of school, she is president of First Baptist Youth Group and is a power lifting competitor.

Brooks plans to attend college and have a career in mathematics.

Patton, son of Tom Patton of Spraggs, maintains a 4.0 grade-point average, as well.

He is a member of National Honor Society, band, Spanish club, ski club and 4-H.

He is a two-time gold clover recipient in 4-H and also was named outstanding senior member of 4-H. Patton received various academic awards, including the Joseph Ayersman History Award.

Outside of school, he works at the family business, Patton Electric, is a community volunteer and is a Civil War re-enactor.

Patton plans to attend West Virginia University in the pre-veterinary program to pursue a career as a veterinarian and manage a cattle farm.
