Harvest Ball celebrates silver anniversary
The Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Harvest Ball is scheduled for Nov. 8 at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. This year’s edition is sponsored by First Federal Savings and Loan of Greene County and is the 25th silver anniversary.
Each year, the Harvest Ball is held in early November and is the primary fundraising event for the foundation. Typically, more than 200 people are in attendance and enjoy live music, complimentary caricatures, a photo booth and thousands of dollars’ worth of auction items.
The list of this year’s auction items include autographed guitars by the Rolling Stones and the Eagles, an autographed Ben Roethlisberger jersey, a West Virginia University mini helmet signed by players from the 1993 undefeated team, a University of Pittsburgh mini helmet signed by Dan Marino, a full size football signed by last year’s Dallas Cowboy team and a one-year membership to Lone Pine Country Club.
Hotel and golf packages, as well as jewelry and many gift baskets, are also available.
Proceeds from the event will aid the foundation in its mission of providing funding for healthcare initiatives throughout Greene County. The GCMH Foundation is the largest non-profit 501c3 philanthropic organization headquartered in Greene County, with assets exceeding $13 million.
Each year, the foundation contributes more than $250,000 to local nonprofit organizations, as well as individuals pursuing secondary health care degrees, all for the sole purpose of improving the health and well-being of Greene County residents.
Sheila Stewart, chairperson of the Harvest Ball, is hopeful that this year’s ball will be remembered as the best and biggest event in honor of 25 years.
“Some people still think this is a by invitation only event, when actually any individual who wants to support the Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation can attend the event,” she said. A block of rooms has been made available at a significant discount and are reserved for Harvest Ball attendees until Oct. 8.
