Assault, drunkenness charges: David Hertrich, 19, of Bethel Park, will be charged by California police with simple assault, harassment, flight to avoid apprehension, underage drinking, public drunkenness and possessing a small amount of marijuana stemming from an incident early Saturday at Theta Xi fraternity house, 726 High St. He allegedly punched one of the fraternity members after he was told to leave. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.

Vehicle damaged: Vanessa McDermott of Washington told Canonsburg police early Sunday the window of her vehicle was broken and the vehicle scratched while it was parked near Jefferson Avenue. Charges are pending against the alleged culprit.

Copper/lumber stolen: Forty feet of copper and 60 pieces of 2-by-6 lumber were stolen from a construction site in Overlook at Southpointe, township police said. The theft was reported by Ryan Homes at 1:28 p.m. Friday.

Car damaged: A 1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was heavily damaged inside a detatched garage at 1518 Route 980 before 4:45 p.m. Friday, police said. The owner is Janis Rogale. A neighbor told police he saw three young boys near the garage with baseball bats, banging on the garage.

Construction materials damaged: Several pieces of drywall were spray-painted along with a foundation in the Overlook at Southpointe before 10 a.m. Saturday, township police said. A garage door was also spray-painted, must be replaced, police said. Small handprints were found in glue. The items are owned by Ryan Homes.

Burglary: Tammy Mock of 16 Muse-Bishop Road told police the rear door was open and another knocked off the hinges at her residence, and her grandmother’s bedroom was ransacked. The burglary was reported at 6:08 p.m. Saturday. The grandmother died the night before the burglary was reported, police said.

Wallet stolen: Charles Phillips of Strabane reported at 7:18 p.m. Sunday his wallet was stolen from inside a coat in his vehicle while the vehicle was parked at the park-and-ride lot near Southpointe, township police said. There are no signs of forced entry. Stolen were credit cards and $100 in cash. There was no activity on the credit cards, police said.

Theft: Two Pittsburgh Pirates playoff tickets, valued at $2,700, might have been stolen, police said. Denise Fetsko told police she ordered the tickets that were to be shipped by FedEx and was told the tickets were delivered to her residence at 12:22 p.m. Wednesday. When Fetsko determined they had not arrived, the Pirates canceled the tickets and Fetsko notified police at 10:40 p.m. Monday.

DUI, fleeing charges: Jamie Lee Lemon, 44, of 57 Sycamore St., Muse, was arrested Saturday by Cecil police after an officer reportedly saw her driving erratically on Muse-Bishop Road. When she was stopped, the officer asked her if she was drinking, and she allegedly claimed her medication contained alcohol. According to the oficer, she then drove away, stopping when she got to her home. Police said Lemon’s blood-alcohol content was almost 3 1/2 times the 0.08 percent limit at which the state presumes intoxication. She was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude police and disorderly conduct. She was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

Harassment charges: Helen Banai, 25, of Cokeburg, and Joseph Shuba Jr., 31, of Washington, will be charged by state police with harassment after allegedly grabbing and shoving each other during a confrontation Sunday at 14 Franklin St., Cokeburg, Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.

Drug arrest: Edward K. O’Daniel, 38, of Dayton, Ohio, was arrested Friday by state police stemming from a traffic stop for an equipment violation on Interstate 70 in Donegal. Police said they found one pound of suspected cocaine after a K-9 alerted on the console of his vehicle. O’Daniel was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver cocaine. He was placed in Washington County jail on $20,000 bond.

Copper stolen: David Foltz told McDonald police Wednesday copper pipe was stolen from the basement of a home at 522 McDonald St.

Road rage incident: Anthony Schiaroli of Midway told McDonald police Saturday the mirror on his vehicle was damaged during a road rage incident involving several motorcycle riders on East Lincoln Avenue.

Dryers, washer stolen: Kelly McClelland told McDonald police Sept. 22 two dryers and a washer were stolen from in front of his garage at 125 Arabella St.

Warrant arrest: Jeremy Todd Leadbetter, 27, of 133 Arabella St., McDonald, was taken into custody Friday on an adult probation warrant, McDonald police said, He was placed in Washington County jail.

Assault arrest: Michael J. Irey, 38, of 329 Hunting Creek Road, North Strabane, was arrested early Sunday by township police after he allegedly punched Lecia Mace in the face, pulled her down the stairs by her hair and slammed her face-first onto the kitchen floor. Irey was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

One injured: Loretta Stewart, 78, of Muse-Bishop Road, Muse, was slightly injured Friday morning when a vehicle driven by Louis Stewart, 85, also of Muse, was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Jeffrey A. Stanish, 20, of Brigich Road, Chartiers Township, on Route 519 near the ramps to Interstate 79, North Strabane police said.

Crash reported: Three people were injured in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in the 800 block of Candor Road, Robinson. McDonald police said Joshua A. Shidel, 17, of 154 Miller Road, McDonald, was going north when his vehicle went off the road and up an embankment. The pickup truck came to rest on its side. Shidel and his two passengers, John Valent Lapacik III, 19, of Number 3 Hill Road, Burgettstown, and Savannah Ashley Curtis, 17, of Montgomery Street, Midway, were taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.

Receiving charge: Daniel R. Cordera, 29, of 701 E. McMurray Road, McMurray, was arrested Sunday by state police on two sets of charges stemming from the theft of vacuum cleaners valued at $1,300 in West Virginia. Police in Ohio County, W.Va., asked state police to be on the lookout for a car involved in the theft from the Bed, Bath & Beyond store at The Highlands. Police spotted the car, driven by Cordera, on Interstate 70 and stopped him after he got off the highway on Route 19 near Oak Spring Road, South Strabane. He was arraigned on a charge of receiving stolen property before District Judge Gary Havelka, who set bond at $10,000. He also was arraigned as a fugitive on the theft charge filed by police in West Virginia. Havelka ordered him held for 30 days pending extradition to West Virginia.

Charged in two cases: Eric D. Richards, 20, of 67-A First St., Avella, was charged by Washington police stemming from two incidents late Saturday and early Sunday at 720 Ewing St. He is charged with criminal trespass, simple assault, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief for allegedly kicking in the front door and assaulting Mark Jones just before midnight Saturday. An hour later, he allegedly threatened to kill Tyler Lesh and Christopher Richard, who were at the home. He is charged with two counts of reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct for that incident. He was arraigned on all the charges before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $20,000 bond.

Loitering charge: Ryan M. Bichi, 30, of Jessup, Lackawanna County, was arrested early Sunday by Washington police on charges of loitering and prowling at night and unauthorized use of a vehicle after Marvin Merriweather, 356 Houston St., reportedly spotted him trying to break into his vehicle about 3:40 a.m. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.

DUI alleged in accident: John Leonard Kosek Jr., 46, of 746 Ewing St., Washington, was charged by city police with DUI, reckless driving, causing an accident involving damage to property, unauthorized use of a vehicle, institutional vandalism and driving while operating privileges were suspended. Police said Kosek, who had a suspended license from a previous DUI, hit a parked vehicle on Ewing Street and crashed into a telephone pole at the Circle K on West Chestnut Street at 2:54 a.m. July 31. Police said he urinated in a holding cell at the city police station, and his blood-alcohol content was 0.169 percent. He was arraigned Monday by District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Drug, alcohol charges: Deion Thomas McCracken, 18, of 125 Park Drive, Prosperity, was charged by city police with possessing an offensive weapon, possessing drug paraphernalia and alcohol, and driving without a license at 11:40 p.m. July 23 while stopped at Jefferson and Tyler avenues. Police said they found silver brass knuckles, two glass pipes with marijuana residue and four cans of alcohol in his vehicle during a traffic stop. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Bank card stolen: Frank Fedorka reported to city police Sunday his bank card was missing, and there were fraudulent charges on his statement.

Robbery: Sonja Sonson reported to city police a man followed her to her car in the CVS parking lot on West Beau Street at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and stole her purse, containing $35, credit cards and keys to her house and car. She said the man pulled her to the ground, causing abrasions. He then ran toward Canterbury Court. Police were unable to identify the man, who was visible on video captured by CVS security cameras. Sonson was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

Theft: Tom Janz told city police tools valued at $4,000 were stolen from the bed of his pickup truck between 1 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. Sunday while it was parked in the 300 block of Dewey Avenue.

Robbery: Donald Carter told police a man approached him at the Washington Financial ATM on East Wylie Avenue and stole the $60 he withdrew at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. He told police the man drove south on Allison Avenue in a white and red pickup truck.

Stolen vehicle: Sarah Morrison told city police her 1998 red Dodge Neon was stolen between 10 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday while it was parked in the 100 block of West Walnut Street.

Paraphernalia charge: Richard Howard III, 20, of 121 Church St., Washington, was charged by city police with possessing a plastic pipe with marijuana residue in a vehicle parked at 283 Dunn Ave. at 9 a.m. Aug. 26. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Burglary: Shawn Vaughn told city police the front door to his apartment in the 400 block of Canton Avenue was forced open and his television was stolen between midnight and 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

Burglary: Leeann Group told city police $500 was stolen from her apartment in the 1000 block of Jefferson Avenue about 1:20 p.m. Saturday.

Robbery: Chris Varney told city police he was delivering a pizza to the 100 block of Church Street at 1 a.m. Saturday when two men approached him and stole $20 and a liter of soda. He told police the men forced themselves inside his car and told him to drop them off at Lincoln Terrace.
