Man accused of threatening Cumberland police officer with knife
A Fayette County man already facing charges he stole a woman’s credit cards is facing additional charges that he threatened a police officer with a knife while naked inside a Cumberland Township, Greene County, home in February.
Township police were called to the home at 138 Neff Road on Feb. 9 after residents there said Ruben Kinder began to “act odd” while the others played video games, according to court documents filed March 27.
The residents told police Kinder, 23, of 338 Alicia Road, Luzerne Township, vomited on the floor and then “began to become inappropriate with a dog” before the others pulled him away from the animal, court documents indicate. Kinder became angry, wrapped himself in a curtain and threw items in the bedroom, police said.
He then grabbed a double-bladed knife and laid down naked in the bathtub when police were called to the home.
Officers asked Kinder to drop the knife and come out of the bathroom, however police said he refused and threatened to injure them. Kinder eventually threw the knife out of a window when one officer pointed a Taser at him, although it was not deployed.
Police said Kinder appeared to be under the influence of drugs and slurred his speech. He allegedly told police he “smoked something” earlier, and drug paraphernalia and synthetic marijuana packets were found inside the house where Kinder had been staying with friends, police said.
Charges of aggravated assault on an officer, reckless endangerment and open lewdness against Kinder were filed through District Judge Lee Watson’s office on March 27, although police are still trying to locate him. It was not known if drug charges would be filed against the other people living inside the house.
Kinder was charged March 9 with receiving stolen property from a separate incident in which Cumberland Township police said he stole a Wayne County woman’s credit cards and other belongings. Police said he met the woman online and they met on an undisclosed date. Police found him in possession with the woman’s belongings and credit cards in February.
