Dozens brawl at NYC racetrack casino as chairs go flying
NEW YORK (AP) – Police said dozens of people clashed in a chair-flinging, glass-shattering melee at a New York City racetrack casino when tempers flared at a bar opening.
Three people were arrested or ticketed on disorderly conduct charges, and a police officer and at least two other people were injured in Friday night’s brawl. Firefighters said two people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
Police say officers arrived just before midnight to find about two dozen people fighting in the food court at the Resorts World Casino at the Aqueduct track.
Some of the hundreds of onlookers posted video of showing people punching each other, tossing chairs and brandishing rope-line stanchions next to a newly opened Fat Tuesday. Security guards tried unsuccessfully to quell the brawl.
Resorts World said it’s enhancing security to ensure there’s no repeat.
