Graysville man arrested after road rage incident
WAYNESBURG – A Gray Township man charged Sunday with assaulting his ex-girlfriend with a Windex bottle was arrested again Monday morning following a road rage incident in Waynesburg involving a man who was driving the woman in his pickup truck.
Waynesburg police Officer Shawn Wood said Terry Lynn Braun, 38, of 113 Hilltop Lane, Graysville, pulled in front of Duane Johnson’s pickup truck when he saw his ex-girlfriend, Marie Miller, in the passenger seat shortly before 7:30 a.m.
Johnson said Miller asked him to drive her past a residence where Braun was staying so she could make sure he was there and not at her home. Johnson told police he was driving along Crooked Alley when they encountered Braun traveling in the opposite direction.
He said Braun pulled in front of him, got out of his car and began yelling and screaming for Johnson to get out of his vehicle. Johnson said Braun began hitting the hood and driver’s side window of the truck so hard he feared for his life and pointed his 9mm pistol at Braun, according to court documents. He said Braun then got back into his car and swerved at his truck as he pulled away, sideswiping it. Wood said Johnson has a valid concealed carry permit and will not be charged in the incident.
Police eventually found Braun, who told them he tried to speak with Johnson, who refused to get out of the vehicle and pointed a pistol at him. He said he swung wide to avoid hitting garbage cans causing him to scrape the side of Johnson’s truck.
A passenger in Braun’s car, Ryan Kelly, said they were taking Kelly’s son to school when they encountered Miller and Johnson. Kelly said he told Braun to get back inside the car when Braun began yelling and punching the driver’s side window of Johnson’s vehicle, according to court documents.
Braun is charged with recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, damaging an attended vehicle and reckless driving. He was arraigned before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich and placed in Greene County jail on $10,000 straight cash bond.
State police filed charges of simple assault and harassment against Braun Sunday for an alleged altercation with Miller that started late Saturday and continued early Sunday. Miller told police Braun threw a Windex bottle, striking her face, as they argued Saturday. She said Braun then refused to let her leave their shared Hilltop Lane residence Sunday morning to go to next door to her mother’s residence, which prompted an argument police said turned physical.
Trooper Forrest Allison said he saw a red mark below Miller’s eye where she indicated being hit by the Windex bottle and red marks on her neck she attributed to the argument Sunday morning.
Braun faces a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. April 13 before Dayich for the most recent set of charges. A preliminary hearing for the domestic incident is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. April 15 before Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates, where those charges were filed.
