Rumble strips to slow speeds during Pittsburgh tunnel construction

1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – A contractor says it will install temporary rumble strips to slow traffic during construction on Pittsburgh’s Fort Pitt Tunnel.

PennDOT says the strips will be in place on inbound approaches each night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting Wednesday.

Work to remove the tunnel ceiling is reducing traffic to one lane and speeds to a maximum 40 mph.

Installing and removing the rumble strips each night and morning could stop traffic for up to 10 minutes.
