UPDATE: Power outages remain; Fort Cherry schools closed

West Penn Power reports about 2,600 customers are still without power in Washington County this afternoon.

A West Penn Power spokesman said the majority of outages were from storms that rolled through the area Thursday night and Friday morning, which brought heavy winds and lightning.

Power is expected to be restored to almost all residents by 6 p.m.

Fort Cherry schools closed today due to power outages in the area.
