Mystery Photo No. 85
Could the worker in this week’s Mystery Photo be repairing seams in the concrete floor of a swimming pool?
That’s what we thought at first, until we noticed the depth of this pit is not graduated, like most swimming pools, and the steps leading down to it and the rocky slope don’t look like poolside landscaping.
So, what might this big hole in the ground have been? Where was it, and when was the photo taken?
These are questions we’re asking our readers so we can solve this puzzle and attach some information to this photo from the Observer-Reporter archives.
The old car on the left appears to be a model from the late 1920s; the auto on the right looks to be from about 1935.
