The Community Sewing Circle of Time will meet Friday for an all-day meeting in the social room of Union Valley United Methodist Church. Donna Bennett will be hostess and program leader. The word for roll call is “prayer.”
John Corbly Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hot Rod’s Restaurant in Waynesburg. Richard Robbins will speak on J.V. Thompson, the Fayette County coal baron.
Harveys-Aleppo Grange No. 1444 will host a meet the candidates evening at 7 p.m. Monday at the grange hall. All candidates for county offices and judicial posts as well as those for municipal offices in the nine western Greene County townships have been invited to attend. People planning write-in campaigns are also welcome to participate. Each candidate will be introduced and have the opportunity to address the group. The grange does not endorse candidates but does encourage public participation in the election process. Light refreshments will be provided.
Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce’s 11th annual Administrative Professional’s Day Luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at First Baptist Church in Waynesburg. Enjoy a milk chocolate fountain with marshmallows, pretzels, strawberries and pineapple. There will be a Chinese auction and door prizes. Featured guest speaker will be Lynn Mancuso-Manning. Tickets are now available for the West Greene Quarterback Club’s New York Red Eye trip. Tickets are $130 for the trip that will leave this Friday night and return Sunday morning. The Cornerstone Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the log courthouse on East Greene Street. The speaker will be Dave Lesako, an art instructor at Waynesburg University. The topic of discussion will be Greene County landscape art. The public is invited to attend.
