Commissioners hire new director for program
WAYNESBURG – Greene County Commissioners voted at a salary board meeting Thursday to hire Bret Moore of Waynesburg as director of the community service program for the Greene County Court.
Moore will replace Rick Hunnell, whose retirement was accepted in February.
The director of the program coordinates the work of criminal defendants who are given a community service requirement as part of their sentence. Moore will be paid $32,000 a year and will start June 12.
The commissioners also voted to hire a full-time law clerk, Jonathan Wilson, at a salary of $31,622.
In other business, the commissioners hired Jessica Barath and Edward Brizi to full-time caseworker positions in Children and Youth Services. Each will be paid $18.16 an hour. They accepted the resignation of Greg Thomas, CYS caseworker, effective April 24.
Jennifer Rizor was promoted to a probation officer position in juvenile probation. She will be paid $20.77 an hour.
The commissioners hired Brittany Griest as a full-time field assessor in the assessment office. Griest will be paid $13.92 an hour.
In domestic relations, the commissioners voted to transfer Christine Gardner to a domestic relations enforcement officer position. She will be paid $32,687 a year.
In the transportation department, the commissioners promoted Jack Graham to a full-time van driver. He will be paid $13.92 an hour. Nancy Kingston was hired as a casual van driver at $7.65 an hour.
The commissioners hired Rebecca Yuhas and Christine Lynn Brottish for part-time department clerk positions in the treasurer’s office. Each will be paid $11.59 an hour.
The commissioner also accepted the resignation of Kenneth Carlisle, part-time corrections officer at the jail, and hired three part-time correction officers, Amanda McCool, Eric Boothman and Brad Babyak. Each will be paid $14.02 an hour.
During their regular meeting, the commissioners approved the right-of-way plan for the replacement of a county bridge over Bloody Run in Gilmore Township.
The county plans to replace the bridge on Shough Creek Road next year.
They also approves a grant application for the 2014-15 capital equipment grant from the state Department of Transportation that will provide money to replace six vehicles for the county’s transportation program; and a grant application to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for funding for an adult probation officer to work with the county intermediate punishment program and to cover the costs of drug and alcohol treatment services.
