Neo-Nazi group outnumbered by protesters in Ohio rally
TOLEDO, Ohio – A rally by a neo-Nazi group has ended in northwest Ohio, 10 years after their planned march sparked a riot in Toledo.
The Blade newspaper of Toledo reports members of the National Socialist Movement walked away Saturday afternoon after more than an hour as police kept back protesters. The newspaper said some 30 neo-Nazis took part, compared to an estimated 150 protesters.
Police were out in force to keep the group separated from protesters.
They also closed off several downtown streets and set up special entrances set up for those who wanted to protest or watch.
The same group came to Toledo in 2005 with plans to march through a neighborhood, sparking a riot that ended with 100 arrests and the looting of a handful of businesses.
