Shots fired, 2 hurt as party turns violent at W. Pa. mall

MONROEVILLE (AP) – Police said shots were fired and two people were hurt at a party involving hundreds of college students at a Pittsburgh-area mall that’s seen several violent episodes in recent months.

Monroeville Police Chief Doug Cole said neither shot hit anyone early Saturday outside Winghart’s Whiskey & Burger Bar at the Monroeville Mall.

A 25-year-old man was listed in fair condition with an unspecified injury. A 19-year-old woman suffered an unspecified emergency.

Police said students from area universities bused to the mall for a fraternity event promoted on social media as #AllWhiteAffair2015 because it required attendees wear white.

It was moved to Monroeville because another venue was double-booked.

The mall increased security after hundreds of fighting teens forced it to close in December and three people were shot in February.
