Former undercover agent files suit against Pennsylvania’s AG

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A former undercover agent has filed a defamation lawsuit against Pennsylvania’s attorney general, alleging that she made false statements about his role in a sting.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Claude Thomas filed the suit against Attorney General Kathleen Kane last week.

Thomas posed as a driver for an undercover operative for more than a year during the investigation. The suit says Kane falsely told the public that he said the operation targeted blacks. Thomas, who is African-American, says Kane’s assertion portrayed him as a “greedy sellout.”

Kane shut the investigation down after taking office, saying it was poorly managed and might have targeted people based on their race.

Kane’s staff didn’t respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment Monday.
