Two sentenced to state intermediate punishment
WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man who pleaded guilty in five cases that included charges of theft and burglary was sentenced Friday by Judge Farley Toothman to the state intermediate punishment program.
Steve Eugene Hodgson, 26, of 310 Tollgate Run Road, who pleaded guilty Oct. 14, will serve two years in the state program developed to provide rehabilitation to defendants with drug and alcohol problems.
Under the program, Hodgson must serve at least seven months in a state prison and participate in institutional- and community-based drug and alcohol programs.
He also was sentenced to a consecutive three years of supervision by the county probation office, fined $450 and ordered to pay restitution.
Hodgson pleaded guilty to the July 13, 2013, theft of a chainsaw from a home in Waynesburg; the May 5, 2014, theft of a donation jar containing $10 to $15 from the Sheetz store in Franklin Township; and the June 9, 2014, burglary at Thralls Contracting in Franklin Township, during which $250 in coins was stolen.
He also pleaded guilty to the June 25, 2014, theft of a gas card from a truck in Waynesburg; and the June 27, 2014, break-in at Thrall’s Contracting, during which nothing was stolen.
William D. Grim, 30, of 78 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, was also sentenced to the state intermediate punishment program Friday on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, his third DUI offense in 10 years and driving while his operating privileges are suspended or revoked.
Grim was stopped by Cumberland Township police for a traffic violation March 4, 2014. He had a blood-alcohol content of 0.184 percent. He pleaded guilty to the charges Oct. 15
Grim will serve at least seven months in a state prison and must participate in institutional- and community-based drug and alcohol treatment programs.
He also was sentenced to a consecutive sentence of three years of supervision by the county probation office and fined $6,635.
