Medical personnel and South Strabane firefighters transfer a man who was found injured in his home to a helicopter for transport to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh Thursday afternoon.

Police are investigating after a South Strabane Township man was taken by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

South Strabane police were called to 1737 N. Main St. shortly after 4:30 p.m. by the man’s family after they found him with head and facial injuries in his home. Officers said they believed the man had been assaulted.

His name has not been released.

Additional information was not available. The man was talking when paramedics placed him into an ambulance, before his transport to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital. However, family members said his injuries were extensive.
