Greene Co. resident charged in stabbing
WEST BROWNSVILLE – A Greene County man was arrested Sunday in connection with a stabbing early that day in West Brownsville.
State police accused Anthony Stockdale, 39, of stabbing his friend, Johnny Onisko, four times during an argument about 3:50 a.m. at 69 Main St., court records show.
Stockdale, of 562 Braden St., Waynesburg, allegedly used a black folding knife to stab Onisko three times in the chest and once in an arm after he accused Onisko of having an affair with his wife, police stated in the affidavit.
Onisko, 39, of West Brownsville, was flown by helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, where police interviewed him about the stabbing later that day. He told police he was sitting around a campfire with Stockdale’s wife when Stockdale arrived and began to scream at her, the affidavit indicates.
Onisko said he stood up and argued with Stockdale, who allegedly had the knife tucked behind one of his legs. Onisko said he was stabbed after he pushed Stockdale, the record indicates.
Stockdale was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment.
He was sent to Washington County jail on $100,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins, and later released after posting bond.
Stockdale is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in the case at 2:45 p.m. May 7 before District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
