SEATTLE (AP) — A popular teacher who tackled a shooter inside a Washington state high school says he did what any other teacher in the U.S. would do: He ran toward the gunfire instead of away from it.

Brady Olson says three other staff members reacted the same way when a student started shooting a gun into the air Monday morning in the school commons before classes began.

No one was injured in the shooting at North Thurston High School in Lacey, about 60 miles southwest of Seattle. The 16-year-old gunman is in custody.

Students and staff are crediting Olson, an Advanced Placement government and civics teacher, with stopping the shooter.
