CALIFORNIA – A New Eagle man is wanted by California Borough police on accusations he fired a handgun into an apartment’s ceiling earlier this month as a threat to harm the residents if they called police to arrest him.

District Judge Joshua Kanalis on April 21 signed the warrant to arrest Robert Christopher Margoni, 26, on a string of charges stemming from the incident at an apartment on Ash Street, court records show.

Police said Margoni had attended a party at the residence April 17 and was allowed to sleep there because the occupants didn’t want him to drive under the influence of alcohol.

The residents awakened him the next morning when they wanted to leave the apartment and he allegedly fired a .380-caliber automatic pistol into the ceiling after arguing with them, police said.

In addition to threatening to harm them, Margoni also allegedly said he would resist police efforts to arrest him, police said.

He is wanted on multiple counts of intimidation of witnesses or victims, making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and simple assault, and one count each of carrying a firearm without a license, criminal mischief and trespassing.

Police said they believe Margoni may have left the area, and he also has been known to stay in residences in West Pike Run Township, Charleroi and Belle Vernon.

Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police said anyone caught hiding him or transporting him will be charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution.

Police are urging anyone who knows his whereabouts to call Washington County 911.
