WAYNESBURG – A Cumberland Township man who pleaded guilty to robbing Gabler’s Drug Store in Carmichaels was sentenced Tuesday by Greene County Judge Farley Toothman to 9 to 60 months in prison.

Nicholas Brandon Gump, 37, of 97 Cumberland Village, robbed the store June 18.

Police said Gump walked behind the drug counter and demanded specific medications. He kept one hand in his pocket, apparently indicating he had a weapon.

Gump left the store with about $100 worth of the drugs alprazolam and oxycodone/acetaminophen.

He was arrested later that day. A clerk in the store had been able to identify him, recognizing him after seeing him in the store the day before filling a prescription.

Gump pleaded guilty in February to charges of robbery, simple assault and theft. In addition to the prison sentence, he was fined $1,500.
