Estranged couple, new boyfriend charged in argument
State police this week filed multiple charges against three people following an argument last August between a man, his estranged wife and her new boyfriend.
Police said Anthony Burnworth was driving on Gwynn Road in Jefferson Township on Aug. 17 when he noticed his estranged wife, Melissa Burnworth, and her boyfriend, Samuel Anderson traveling in the other direction.
Anthony Burnworth began following their car, police said, until they pulled over on Ridge Road and he began taking photos of them.
Anderson then allegedly punched Burnworth in the head opening a cut above his left eye, police said.
Police said Anderson was driving the truck before the incident, although Melissa Burnworth told investigators she was driving because his license had been suspended.
Police said she also told investigators that her estranged husband struck their truck, although troopers could not find any damage on either vehicle.
State police filed charges Tuesday morning through District Judge Glenn Bates’ office against all three people.
Anderson, 53, of Cumberland Township, was charged with simple assault, unsworn falsification to police, harassment and driving on a suspended license; Melissa Burnworth, 30 of Cumberland Township, was charged with unsworn falsification to police; and Anthony Burnworth, 40, of Rices Landing, was charged with stalking, harassment and driving on a suspended license.
