Fayette County man arrested after fight
A Fayette County man was arrested by Hanover Township police after he allegedly got into a disturbance in the lawn area during Saturday night’s Luke Bryan concert at First Niagara Pavilion and then allegedly trying to kick township police who responded to the fight.
Scott Douglas McKnight, 31, of Hopwood, was taken into custody by police who were called to the disturbance about 9:30 p.m. Security had several people detained for fighting while three Hanover officers tried to take McKnight into custody for his alleged involvement in the fight.
A security officer told police a guest approached him, complaining a man later identified as McKnight was bumping into her and her friends. When security told him it was time to leave, he allegedly pushed and bit the security guard.
Police said McKnight reportedly became aggressive and was thrashing around as the officers tried to place him in handcuffs. During the struggle, McKnight allegedly threatened to kill the officers and their families, kicked at the officers and tried to hit one in the face with his elbows. One officer used his Taser to get McKnight under control.
Police were forced to carry McKnight to the police holding area, and McKnight allegedly started kicking Officer Joshua Shaw in the arm and stomach. Shaw used his Taser, in the stun mode, on McKnight’s leg. While in the holding area, McKnight again threatened to kill the officers, police said.
McKnight was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment. He was released Sunday morning from Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 13 before District Judge Gary Havelka.
