Prayer vigil planned for toddler in near-drowning accident
A prayer vigil will be held Tuesday for Dean Gillum, a 2-year-old who was involved in a near-drowning accident in Canonsburg last week.
According to a Facebook event, the prayer vigil will be held at 8:30p.m. Tuesday in the cul-de-sac area at 112 Linda Court in the Apple Hill neighborhood of Canonsburg.
Dean Gillum was found Thursday afternoon facedown in his family’s backyard swimming pool. He was later placed in the pediatric intensive care unit of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Canonsburg police Chief Alex Coghill said Sunday the boy died and the death was ruled accidental. However, the boy’s mother, Laura Gillum, posted on her Facebook page Sunday she and husband Paul chose not to remove their son, whom they call “Burrito,” from life support.
