Police beat Aug. 6
Girlfriend threatened: Jonathan J. Benjamin, 28, of Mitchell Road, Eighty Four, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge David Mark on charges of terroristic threats and harassment filed by Canonsburg police stemming from a July 30 domestic dispute at a business at 123 E. Pike St. His girlfriend, Deanna Lober, told police the two got into an argument at the bank and she drove him to that location because she wanted him to get out of her car because he reportedly threatened her. He also allegedly threatened her in the store, police said. Mark set bond for Benjamin, who was in Washington County jail on a probation warrant, at $25,000 bond.
Harassment charges: Kenneth Lee Brooks Jr., 22, and Shannon L. Hilbert, 22, both of Washington, will be charged with harassment by state police after a physical confrontation last week on Rose Avenue in Canton.
Threats made: Jules William Redman, 49, of 110 Church St., Midway, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by McDonald police after he allegedly went into the home of Todd Rudy on Washington Avenue and threatened him. Police said Redman was intoxicated and carrying a bag containing an open bottle of vodka and five cans of beer. Redman was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of criminal trespass, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and harassment. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond.
Harassment charge: Lawrence Gordon Patterson, 23, of 772 S. Central Ave., Canonsburg, will be charged with harassment by North Strabane police after he allegedly grabbed Shaelyn Marie Saunoras, 22, of Washington, by the hair and tried to push her head down to the floor of her vehicle. When she spotted police near Canon-McMillan High School, Saunoras got out of her vehicle and Patterson allegedly drove off with it. He returned and reportedly ran into the woods when he spotted her talking with police. He was picked up and returned to the high school by Canonsburg police.
Card used: Barbara Piatt of Village Court told South Strabane police Monday that information from her credit card was used to make a $258.95 purchase in May that was delivered a few days later to an address on Thayer Street in East Washington.
Wallet stolen: A 56-year-old Union Township woman told Southwest Regional police Monday that her wallet was stolen from her shopping cart while she was at Giant Eagle, Route 88, Union. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police at 724-929-8484.
Woman bilked: Betty Supler of Fayette Street told Washington police Tuesday she purchased $2,000 in Pay Pal cards she submitted to an account set up by a person who was purportedly selling her a 2009 Fleetwood camper on Craigslist. When Supler later checked the account, the money was gone. She never received the camper, and the supposed seller, who had claimed to be in Altoona, did not return her emails.
