Police beat Aug. 7
Garage burglarized: Cheryl Ann Selvoski told state police a red portable air compressor was stolen from a detached garage at her home at 103 Russie Ave., Bentleyville, between July 22 and Saturday.
Vehicle damaged: Deborah Kearney of 537 Craighead St. told Canonsburg police Wednesday the left headlight and grille on her vehicle were damaged and the center caps on the tire rims were removed while the vehicle was parked outside her home.
Hindering apprehension charge: Amanda R. Johnson, 33, of 2555 Jefferson Ave., Canton, was charged Friday by state police with hindering apprehension after she allegedly told a trooper that Mark Hutchins was not at their home when police went to serve a warrant July 28. When police asked to check the house, she said she had to put the dogs away. When she opened the door, police said Hutchins was sitting on the couch. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Theft, receiving charges: Windy Lee Baker, 32, of 802 Old West Road, Bentleyville, was charged Friday by state police with theft and receiving stolen property. She is accused of stealing several pieces of jewelry valued at $1,450 from her father, Randy John Hoffman, 60 McGovern Ave., Canton, earlier this year and selling it at a Belle Vernon resale shop to get money to purchase heroin, police said. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Face charges: Mark Roberts, 43, of Follansbee, W.Va., and his employer, Lewis Tree Service, face equipment violation charges after he crashed a bucket truck into a retaining wall early Tuesday in the 700 block of Western Avenue and fled, Chartiers police said. Roberts was driving north on Western when he went off the road, according to police.
Theft, receiving charges: William B. McNary, 31, of 36 Pike St., Meadow Lands, was charged Friday by Chartiers police with theft and receiving stolen property. He is accused of stealing an Apple iPhone from William Richards, 307 Castle Road, July 21. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Burglary, trespass charges: Joshua Daniel Powell, 27, of 153 Washington St., Cokeburg, was arrested early Thursday by state police after he allegedly broke into a home on Lincoln Street in Cokeburg about 5 p.m. Wednesday. Police said he entered the home and then left through a rear door. Police received information Powell was dropped off in Bentleyville. When police spotted him, they said he ran but soon was caught. Powell was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of burglary, attempted burglary, criminal trespass, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was placed in Washington County jail on $20,000 bond.
Endangerment, disorderly charges: Thomas P. Edkins, 50, of 701 Joffre-Cherry Valley Road, Burgettstown, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of reckless endangerment, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct after he allegedly pointed a gun and threatened to shoot his neighbor if the neighbor or the neighbor’s dog came onto his property again. Edkins was released on $25,000 unsecured bond.
Work not done: Margot McAnany of 324 Burton Ave. told Washington police she paid a contractor about $3,500 to do work including painting the siding on her home earlier this year. She has not been able to contact him since making the last payment. Police said charges are pending.
Items stolen: Angela Andrews of North Franklin Township told Washington police Wednesday a stove, washer, dryer, hot water tank, cabinets and refrigerator were stolen from rental property she owns in the 900 block of West Chestnut Street.
Money stolen: Heather Earlywine of 145 Church St. told Washington police Wednesday $180 was stolen from her bedroom while she slept.
