Police again respond to shots in West End
Shots were fired in the 600 block of Fayette Street of Washington’s West End Sunday evening, but no one was wounded.
The incident occurred about 6 p.m. near McCarrell Avenue. City police taped off the area in front of 680 and 690 Fayette while investigating. Officers from North Franklin Township and state police also responded.
Police said they were not sure of the number of shots. Residents estimated between four and nine shots were fired.
Police responded to initial reports of a gunshot victim lying in a nearby alley. Police at first said they weren’t sure whether anyone had been shot, but after about a half-hour, dismissed an ambulance on standby near the scene. An officer then said no one was wounded.
The gunfire came just more than a week after separate gunshot incidents July 30 and 31 at 630 Fayette St., in which a different man was wounded each night.
