Corner Cupboard Food Bank holding 5K run/walk
The Corner Cupboard Food Bank in Greene County is holding its first Race to End Hunger 5K Run/Walk next month.
The race will begin at 7 a.m. Sept. 26, and registry will take place at the Pennsylvania Army National Guard Readiness Center.
The event is to raise awareness in the community about hunger and the money raised will be used to support the operations of the food bank to help 2,000 families in Greene County each month.
Pre-registration is $18 for the 5K, and $20 if registering on race day. Pre-registration, which must be done prior to Sept. 12, includes a T-shirt that showcases the design for this year’s race.
There will also be a 2.5K family fun fitness walk, which is free to participants.
Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female runners and top three walkers for the 5K. People participating in the 2.5K will receive a certificate. All ages are permitted to join and help raise money for the food bank.
Companies and organizations that are interested in participating can sponsor the event.
Due to safety precautions, dogs, rollerblades or bicycles will not be allowed in the race.
