Two other wineries participating in Corks and Kegs

2 min read

Also participating in the inaugural Corks and Kegs Festival Aug. 22 and 23 at The Meadows Casino are two additional wineries: Plum Run Winery and The Winery at Wilcox.

Plum Run Winery in Beallsville, owned by Joe Skocik, offers 45 to 50 different varieties of fruit and grape wines. Skocik also produces mead, a beverage made from fermented honey and water. His most popular offerings are his Merlot, Niagara, black raspberry, strawberry rhubarb and a wine he calls “Miracle in a Bottle,” – a three-berry wine that comes in both dry and sweet varieties. In the fall, he will be making his pumpkin and cranberry wines.

Skocik’s wines are available at some area farmers markets and at his tasting room at Skocik’s Plum Run Winery, 540 National Pike Road, West Brownsville.

The Winery at Wilcox, based in Elk County, just south of the Allegheny Mountains, was opened in 1994 by Mike and Carol Williams, and is the only participating winery not based in Washington or Greene counties. However, the family has opened a store in neighboring Allegheny County, at 1940 Settlers Ridge Center Drive, Robinson Township. They also operate two other wineries, The Winery at Hunters Valley and The Winery at Versailles in Ohio.

Among their most popular offerings are their Clarion River Red and Wedding White, both of which are available at LCB Fine Wine and Spirits stores across Pennsylvania. For more information on the wineries, visit http://www.wineryatwilcox.net/.

In addition to the wineries, 10 breweries will be represented at the event, along with 10 food trucks selling a variety of food ranging from burgers to subs to barbecue. More than 50 vendors will be on hand, as well.

Corks and Kegs is being sponsored by the Observer-Reporter, The Meadows Casino, Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency, South Hills Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Kia and Leinenkugel Beer.
