Police beat Aug. 12
Card information used: Mikal Lynn Pihakis of Canonsburg told Canonsburg police Monday that information from her credit/debit card was used to make a $309.71 purchase at the Walgreens in Canonsburg and an attempt was made to use it at a Rite Aid in Washington.
Window damaged: Donnie Lee Burk of Laddie Drive, Canton, told state police that a piece of asphalt was thrown through the window of his home about 4 a.m. Monday.
Harassment charge: Jordan Ike, 21, of Washington, will be charged by state police with harassment for allegedly getting into a physical confrontation Monday with his fiancée, Jamie K. Poborski, at 33 Griffith Ave., Canton.
Assault, harassment arrest: Joseph M. Klingensmith, 44, of 45 Snyder Ave., Carroll, was arrested Monday by township police on charges of simple assault and harassment for allegedly assaulting his fiancée, Tammy Metz, at their home. Police said she had injuries to her wrist and leg. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and released from Washington County jail Tuesday morning after posting $10,000 bond.
Copper stolen: An employee of Alex Paris Construction of Atlasburg told Chartiers police Monday that work trailers were broken into at a construction site on Paxton Farms Road. Stolen from the trailers were four 60-foot rolls of three-quarter-inch copper water lines and a box of one-inch copper fittings.
Man assaulted: Charles Bard Jr., 30, of 115 Barnickle St., Meadow Lands, will be charged by Chartiers police with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment for allegedly assaulting Charles Mitchum, 27, of Wheeling, W.Va., during a confrontation outside Bard’s home Friday. Mitchum was treated at Wheeling Hospital. The charges against Bard will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Two-vehicle crash: Robert Bergstedt, 64, of Donora, appeared to have suffered minor injuries when the Washington Rides small bus he was operating was struck from behind by a pickup truck in a construction zone about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday on Park Avenue, township police said. No passengers were in the bus. Bergstedt was taken by ambulance to Mon Valley Hospital, police said.
Money taken: Around $50 in cash and miscellaneous coinage was taken Aug. 7 from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Greenfield Drive in McMurray, police said.
Items stolen: Carl Trussler told South Strabane police Monday an air compressor and leaf blower were stolen from his shed at 285 Wilbert Ave.
Wallet stolen: Amy Bradley of Bridgeville told South Strabane police Monday her wallet was stolen from near the cash register while she was at Aeropostale at Tanger Outlets. She told police she put the wallet in a bin while she organized her purchases, and when she turned her head, the wallet was gone. The wallet contained credit cards, gift cards and her driver’s license.
Attempted burglary: Carol Kyrines of 279 N. Main St. told Washington police Monday her interior basement door was damaged in an apparent break-in attempt.
Cellphone stolen: Betty Kelly of 525 W. Chestnut St. told Washington police Monday her cellphone was stolen from her home.
