State police investigating house fire that killed child

SHARON (AP) – A state police fire marshal is investigating a blaze that killed a child at a home in Western Pennsylvania.

Sharon fire department officials confirmed that a child died in the fire that was reported about 11 p.m. Sharon is about 60 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, near the Ohio border.

The Mercer County coroner’s office had no information to release early Tuesday, and Sharon police could not immediately be reached for comment.

State police confirmed that a fire marshal was asked to investigate the fire, but released no other information.

Fire officials and the coroner’s office were expected to release additional information later Tuesday.
