Midway residents host compressor station health meeting

1 min read

A community meeting on potential health risks from a proposed natural gas drilling compressor station in Robinson Township will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the SNPJ hall in Midway. Organizer Karen Brockman, of Prospect Street, said representatives from the Clean Air Council will give information on potential pollution and accompanying health issues.

“Residents are within a mile of the (second compressor station) that is being proposed on Quicksilver Road. We’re not protesting the site itself, it’s likely to happen, but we’re just trying to inform ourselves,” Brockman said, explaining she’ll also have maps and local information on hand.

“Clean Air Council representative Anna Hansen will be on hand to talk about pollutants that are leaked at every step of the natural gas extraction process,” said outreach director Matt Walker, “because even though they’re going to be using electric engines, that’s only one possible source.”
