• Date: Aug. 13.
• Action: The commissioners ratified a request from the Human Services Department to rent 1,350 square feet of office space at 250 Chamber Plaza, Charleroi, as a satellite location for Washington County Drug and Alcohol Commission Inc., Children and Youth Services and Behavioral Health and Developmental Services at a total monthly cost of $1,206 through Aug. 31, 2020.
Related to the Juvenile Probation Office’s Leader program to deter youth from delinquency, the commissioners approved agreements through June 30, 2016, with Children and Youth Services, $785,800; Intermediate Unit I, $18,240 for education; and $250,000 for Children and Youth to provide job-training services.
Ashley Blake and Tamie Henry of Children and Youth Services will enroll full-time in the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Social Work as graduate education students in the Child Welfare Education for Leadership program beginning Aug. 24.
Skyward Aviation, the Washington County Airport’s fixed-base operator, will have leases for the terminal building and apron and the fuel farm that match the terms with the former Christman Hangar.
As expected, the commissioners adopted a resolution approving the sale of a 3.12-acre parcel in the Starpointe Business Park near Burgettstown to LSD4, LP, a Pennsylvania Partnership and an affiliate of Samuels and Son Seafood Co., Pittsburgh.
At the request of Chief Clerk Mary Helicke, the board approved the fiscal year 2015 emergency management performance grant of $295,556. The federal government and county share the cost of salaries and benefits of approved staff positions within the Emergency Management Agency budget, and the county’s share is $147,778.
At the request of District Attorney Gene Vittone, the commissioners OK’d a change with the Victims of Crime Act grant with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to pay 80 percent of a new position next year.
The board approved purchase-of-service agreements with Community Action Southwest through June 30, 2016, with a contract authorization of $1 million.
At the request of Aging Services, the commissioners approved matching funds from the Human Services capital fund: a $4,500 match for a $48,773 local share account allocation from gambling revenues at The Meadows Casino to remodel the Beth-Center Senior Citizen Center kitchen; and a $6,500 match for a $70,350 local share allocation to expand the dining area of McGuffey Senior Citizen Center.
