Deputies to nab people who speed

1 min read

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is rolling out a plan to catch speeding and aggressive drivers.

Greene County Sheriff Brian Tennant and deputies are using two “VASCAR” units installed in the their vehicles in an attempt to catch speeders.

“Law enforcement in Greene County is sparse and all agencies do as much as they can, but the fact remains that there are a lot of roads and not enough law enforcement to go around,” Tennant said. “This is an effort by the sheriff’s office to compliment what other agencies are doing and to help ensure our citizens are safe on and around the roadways.”

Currently, there are numerous speed zones with white lines painted on the pavement throughout the county that the office is utilizing for speed monitoring. They plan on implementing more in the future, Tennant said.

“We have tried our best to determine where our resources and efforts will be best utilized to help keep Greene County safe,” he said.
