Robinson robber runs out of shoe

Just like Cinderella, a fleet-footed robber was hoping to make his getaway before his chariot turned into a pumpkin. Unlike the belle of the ball, he wasn’t trying to get away from Prince Charming but rather the police, who were certainly on their way, and he did not run out of a glass slipper but rather a stinky sneaker he left behind in the parking lot of a golf course parking lot.

McDonald police were called about 8:40 a.m. to Quicksilver Golf Course, 2000 Quicksilver Road, Robinson Township, for a report of a robbery.

The groundskeeper told McDonald police he saw the suspect’s vehicle parked in the second row about 7:15 a.m. He said the soon-to-be robber approached the groundskeeper and asked if it would be possible to play singles on the course. The groundskeeper told him it would likely be OK and the suspect asked for the location of the pro shop. The groundskeeper then resumed his work.

The cashier at the pro shop saw the suspect enter and look around at merchandise. The two talked and the suspect told the cashier he was waiting for his father to finish a round of golf. The two talked about golf courses in Beaver County.

The cashier told police he turned his back to dump out coffee when the suspect jumped over the counter and grabbed a stack of one dollar bills the cashier was preparing to take to an upstairs office. The cashier said the money was from a soft drink machine.

Police said the robber ran upstairs and out the front door before losing his right shoe in the parking lot next to where he had parked his car.

The suspect is white, in his 20s or 30s with a thin build and has tattoos on his neck. He was wearing long brown shorts and a brown shirt. He was driving a black, four-door compact car, possibly a Volkswagen.

Police from Mt. Pleasant and Cecil townships assisted in canvassing the area, but the suspect was not located, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-926-2015.
