Body found inside North Strabane home

1 min read

North Strabane Township police found the decomposing body of a 68-year-old man inside his Pearl Drive home about 2:30 p.m. Sunday after getting a call from a relative to check on the family’s welfare.

Also inside the home was his 67-year-old wife and 44-year-old son, who is physically disabled. Police said it appears the man was dead for a few weeks and it is unclear why his family did not call to report his death. The cause of death and the exact time of his death have not been determined, but it does not appear to be suspicious and there was no sign of trauma, police said.

Township firefighters and the Washington County Hazardous Materials Team were called because of the conditions inside the house. The township code enforcement officer condemned the house and steps will be taken to determine whether to make it habitable.

The wife and son were taken to Washington Hospital to be evaluated, police said. The Pennsylvania Department of Aging is also checking on their welfare.
