Dachmon Ruge of Holbrook motions with his hands Thursday afternoon while talking to Randy Grahek of Uniontown as the two men look at the C-54E Skymaster cargo plane parked at the Greene County Airport.

The cargo plane that participated in the Berlin Airlift in the late 1940s has attracted a steady crowd of people this week since arriving Monday morning at the airport for Aviation Day demonstration Saturday.

“We just had to see this plane,” Grahek said after the two friends ate lunch at the Airport Diner.

The “Spirit of Freedom” aircraft will be the showcase event at Saturday’s event when it performs a Hershey’s bar “candy drop” for children at the airport.
