New member appointed to Canon-Mac School Board
John Fink was appointed to serve on Canon-McMillan School Board.
The Canonsburg resident will serve through Dec. 6 after the death of Eric Kline left the seat vacant.
A new director will be elected in November and seated Dec. 7, according to school district spokeswoman Amanda Gillooly.
Also at Thursday’s meeting, the school board voted to approve a five-year extension for Assistant Superintendent Scott Chambers.
In other business, Gillooly said the stadium track will not yet be open to the public because of unanticipated work.
The board also approved hiring the following teachers: Beth Farnsworth, elementary librarian; Emily Nardine, elementary teacher; Megan Watelet, high school English teacher; and Rebecca Jackson, elementary art teacher.
The board accepted the resignations of elementary teachers Amy Lynch and Marcee Finch.
In athletics, the board appointed Lou Waller as head coach for girls basketball.
