Western Pa. police officer, son killed

GREENVILLE (AP) – Officials said a Western Pennsylvania police officer who worked as a D.A.R.E. instructor for several years and his son were killed in a two-vehicle morning accident.

State police said 41-year-old Jeremiah Christner and an unidentified passenger died in the crash that occurred around 9:50 a.m. Thursday along Greenville-Sheakleyville Road.

Greenville-West Salem Police Department officials said Christner, a 10-year veteran of the department, was accompanied by his son – whose name and age weren’t released.

Police said Christner lost control of his sportutility vehicle while rounding a curve and collided with an oncoming truck. The truck driver and his passenger were transported to an area hospital. Their conditions were not available.
