Man’s body discovered in woods

1 min read

State police are investigating the discovery of a body Friday in woods in Greene County.

Police said the body of a man was found about 6 p.m. in Franklin Township by youths riding all-terrain vehicles.

Police said Saturday the investigation into the death was continuing.

Mary Lewis, chief deputy coroner in Greene, said her office was not commenting on the case while it was under investigation by police.

“We’re not revealing anything,” Lewis said Saturday.

Separate cases involving two missing West Virginia men brought investigators to Greene County earlier this year.

Isaac Felton, 41, of Bretz, was seen purchasing a phone card April 5 at a Mt. Morris truck stop just days before he disappeared. Human remains were found in a rural area near Bretz in June, but the family had yet to receive confirmation it was his body, according to a Friday post to a Facebook page created for the missing man.

A 2012 Honda Civic belong to John K. Raikes, 57, of Fairmont, was found in early July at an Econo Lodge in Waynesburg about a week after he vanished.
