Children run off the airfield after nabbing a parachute with a chocolate bar attached to it after a candy drop at Greene County Airport for Greene County Aviation Day Saturday.

Greene County Aviation Day at the county airport was held Saturday with a parachute jump from a professional skydiving group and free airplane rides to children.

A C-54 cargo plane was on display for tours and the show culminated with a “candy airdrop” at 5 p.m. when chocolate bars were dropped from the airplane in parachutes to simulate what American crewmen did for children in Berlin, which was surrounded by Soviet troops, during the airlift in 1948 and 1949.
