Rices Landing fire company receives grant
The Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Department of Homeland Security has awarded a $67,743 grant to the Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Department to purchase new turnout gear.
“Pennsylvania’s firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep their community safe,” said U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, who announced the grant award.
“This money will help provide Greene County’s firefighters with the resources they need to ensure their safety and the safety of those they serve,” he said.
The money will be used to purchase new pants, jackets, helmets, flashlights and boots for 30 firefighters, said Ryan Belski, fire company president.
“It’s a pretty big deal for us,” Belski said, noting the company has been applying for a grant from the program for several years. Belsky thanked Casey for assistance in obtaining the money.
The money was awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program which aims to strengthen the health and safety of the nation’s first responders and those they serve.
