17-year-old charged as adult in shooting

A 17-year-old Washington boy was charged by city police as an adult with attempted homicide for allegedly shooting a man who was sitting in his vehicle near the teen’s home in April.
William Kokladas III of 846 Ewing St. also is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a minor and reckless endangerment. He was taken into custody early Friday on an arrest warrant issued July 9 by District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Kokladas allegedly shot 52-year-old John Oskey as he sat in his vehicle in the 800 block of Ewing about 6 p.m. April 21. City police Detective Sgt. Ron Aiello said Oskey reportedly was hitting Kokladas’ sister, who was in the vehicle. Kokladas fired a shot from a handgun, breaking the vehicle’s window and hitting Oskey in the shoulder, Aiello said. Oskey was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.
Oskey reportedly identified the teen as the shooter. Aiello said police do not know where the teen got the gun.
Kokladas was arraigned Friday morning before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 10 before Redlinger.
