Police Beat Dec. 3

Burglary reported: Joseph R. Hrutkay of 603 Highland Ridge Road, Buffalo Township, told state police Monday a white man in a white sedan burglarized his home. Hrutkay told police the intruder knocked on his front door and, when no one answered, entered the house. The man stole a five-gallon jug filled with coins before leaving through the front door. The burglar ran down the driveway, got into the car and fled toward Route 40. The police report did not indicate how Hrutkay obtained his information about the burglar.
Identity theft: Megan Maturo, 19, of Pittsburgh, will be charged by California police with identity theft, false identification to police and a stop sign violation after she allegedly gave an officer an identification card that did not belong to her during a traffic stop Monday night at the Hickory and Sixth streets. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Account accessed: David Setto of Canonsburg told borough police Tuesday $1,946 had been stolen from bank accounts of his relatives after their respective accounts were accessed last month.
Clubs missing: Lance Lemmons, a resident of Texas, told police Dec. 1 his golf clubs and golf bag were stolen from Southpointe Golf Club. He last saw them in October, according to reports. The clubs and bag are valued at $1,800.
Teen found: A 17-year-old Chartiers Township boy was taken to Jefferson County (Ohio) Juvenile Detention Center after he was taken into custody Monday for absconding during a home visit over Thanksgiving from Summit Academy, township police said.
Burglary arrest: Gerry Lynn Mikels, 26, of 118 Fulton St., North Franklin Township, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant obtained by McDonald police on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and loitering and prowling at night. She is accused of forcing her way into a home at 1003 Spring St., Robinson, in August and stealing a business checkbook from a filing cabinet. She was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Woman jailed: Angelina Atkinson, 47, of Washington, is charged by city police with institutional vandalism, accused of smashing a basket into a television and thermostat while she was an inmate at Washington County jail about 2:30 p.m. June 6, court records show. District Judge Robert Redlinger returned her to the jail Wednesday on $5,000 bond.
House burglarized: Noelle Catlin, who lives in the 700 block of Brad Avenue, told Washington police a 70-inch flat-screen television, TV stand, laptop computer and tablet were stolen in a burglary of her home Tuesday. A 65-inch flat-screen television was damaged. Police said there was no sign of forced entry.
DUI alleged in crash: James E. Walker Jr., 31, of 585 Maple Ave., Washington, faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a yard and retaining wall at 1036 Michigan Ave. Tuesday night, Washington police said. Police said his blood-alcohol content was more than 2 1/2 times the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed. Police said he will receive the charge by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Battery pack stolen: An employee of Auto Supermarket, 57 E. Chestnut St., told Washington police Tuesday a white man with a medium build and wearing a red jacket stole a portable battery jumper pack and tried to return it to the store. When he was told it was store property, he fled with the pack and then sold it at a nearby pawn shop, police said.
Wallet found: State police said a brown wallet containing items was turned in at the barracks on Murtland Avenue Wednesday. The owner can call police at 724-223-5200.
