Wolf says he’ll have to oust AG Kane if Senate votes for it
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Gov. Tom Wolf says he’ll have no choice but to remove Kathleen Kane as Pennsylvania’s attorney general if the state Senate votes for it.
In an interview Wednesday on Harrisburg radio station WITF-FM, Wolf said the question is whether senators will invoke a provision in the state constitution to remove Kane from her elected office by a two-thirds vote. If so, Wolf said his role would be to “do their bidding.”
A special committee voted 5-2 last week to recommend that the full Senate launch a formal process to remove Kane, who continues to run her office with a suspended law license while fighting charges she leaked confidential information and lied about it. She says she’s done nothing wrong.
Wolf, a fellow Democrat, has said Kane should step down voluntarily.
