TUBACHRISTMAS concert returns to Waynesburg U.

Waynesburg University will once again host the popular TUBACHRISTMAS concert next week.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 in the university’s Goodwin Performing Arts Center.
The concert will feature a variety of Christmas carols arranged by composer Alec Wilder to recognize the artistry of tuba music composers in the past.
Anyone can participate in the concert as a performer. Interested tuba and baritone/euphonium players can register for a $10 fee on the day of the concert at 5 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Rehearsal will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. TUBACHRISTMAS merchandise will be available in the GPAC lobby.
“The event is great for all audiences, especially families, so we hope both the Waynesburg University and Greene County community will join us for this Christmas season carol sing-along,” music program director Ronda DePriest said.
This year is the 42nd anniversary of TUBACHRISTMAS and fifth time the concert has been performed at Waynesburg University. Admission is free.
Harvey Phillips created TUBACHRISTMAS in 1974 to honor William J. Bell. Tuba and euphonium players gather every Christmas season in more than 280 cities throughout the world to pay homage to the artists and teachers of their heritage.
