Parkway work changed

The closing of the outbound Parkway West (Interstate 376) has been changed. The outbound lanes will be closed from the Green Tree/Crafton exit to the Interstate 79 interchange from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The work was originally going to start Saturday.
The choirs of First and Washington Street United Methodist churches are presenting an intimate look at the Christmas story based on the Amy Grant song, “Breath of Heaven,” that comes from the award-winning team of Russell Mauldin and Sue C. Smith. The production is under the direction of the Rev. Bill Parker and will be performed at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Goodwin Performing Arts Center at Waynesburg University. The show is open to the public.
The Waynesburg University Department of Fine Arts and Music will present the annual “A Concert of Carols” Christmas show at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in Roberts Chapel.
The university’s Lamplighters Concert Choir and Symphonic Band will perform.
County high school instrumentalists, will perform arrangements of works such as “Amen, Go Tell It,” “O Holy Night,” “Three Noels” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
Text Normal: Edward Powers, professor of theater at Waynesburg University, will present a poetry reading.
Text Normal: “Most of the pieces chosen for this concert use Christmas carols from all types of musical traditions,” said Ronda DePriest, associate professor of instrumental music and director of the music program. “Educationally speaking, a knowledge of the history of carols is needed to develop a sense of the breadth of humanity’s response to the Christmas season throughout the ages and around the world.”
Text Normal: Doors open at 7 p.m., and the public is invited to attend the free concert, although there is no reserved seating.
