COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Christmas tree farmers say the spring and summer deluges that swamped Ohio have turned into a holiday gift.

The farmers say the heavy rains contributed to a good season by plumping out all those pine, fir and spruce trees.

William Cackler, owner of Cackler Family Farms in Delaware County and president of the Ohio Christmas Tree Association, tells the Columbus Dispatch that last season was one of the best ever and this year may surpass it.

Cackler says tree sales start right around Thanksgiving, with some farms opening the week before and others the week of.

David Davis, owner of Delaware County’s Fly-A-Way Farm, says shoppers may have different kinds of trees in mind but all of them are happy to be there.
