ROGERESVILLE – A two-car crash Friday morning seriously injured a driver and closed Route 21 about three miles west of Waynesburg.

A station wagon traveling west crossed the centerline near Oak Forest Road and struck a pickup truck head-on shortly after 11 a.m., state police said.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage in the crash.

Waynesburg-Franklin firefighters cut the man from car, although he was conscious while being treated by medics at the scene before being flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, had cuts to his face and arms, police said.

The driver of the truck, who also was not identified, appeared to escape injury as he spoke to investigators at the scene.

Route 21 was closed for more than an hour while police investigated the crash and crews removed the wreckage. The highway reopened about 12:15 p.m.
