Police beat Dec. 12

Purse stolen: Brittani Miller of Washington told Canonsburg police Thursday her purse was stolen from her car while the vehicle was parked in front of 430 Euclid Ave. last weekend. She reported the theft after learning an attempt was made to open a credit card in her name.
Counterfeit bill: State police said a white woman in her 20s with black hair used a counterfeit $100 bill Thursday to purchase $17.86 in produce at Interstate Foodland, West Chestnut Street, Canton. She then left on West Chestnut driving an older model blue Jeep Cherokee.
Lights stolen: John Comport of 737 Weirich Ave., Canton, told state police two sets of Christmas laser lights were stolen from the front yard of his home between midnight and 2 a.m. Saturday.
Drug charge: Derek Lowe, 23, of 213 Luella Ave., Charleroi, was charged Friday by Charleroi Regional police with possession of a controlled substance when he allegedly was found with a Suboxone strip in his wallet after a traffic stop Tuesday on Fifth Street. He was placed in Washington County jail on a probation detainer. The charge was filed at the office of District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Charged in assault: Robert Margoni, 26, of 208 Morton St., New Eagle, was charged Friday by Charleroi Regional police with simple assault and terroristic threats after he allegedly assaulted Robert Kisner in the 300 block of Crest Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Margoni also allegedly threatened to burn Kisner’s house if he called police. Margoni was gone before police arrived. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Lights stolen: Charleroi Regional police are warning residents of Upper Speers there have been numerous reports of Christmas lights being stolen from displays. If residents see anything suspicious, they are asked to call police.
Driver injured: James Capozzoli, 53, of Highcroft Road, North Strabane, was injured when his northbound vehicle went off the 800 block of Thomas-Eighty Four Road about 1:45 a.m. Friday and hit a tree, ripping off the right wheel, North Strabane police said. The vehicle then hit a second tree and spun around. Capozzoli, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Police said they will obtain a warrant to secure his blood to determine if alcohol was a factor.
Cellphone stolen: Shawn Henderson of Canton Township told Washington police Wednesday an iPhone was stolen from his vehicle at the Alpine Club, Jefferson Avenue.
Window broken: Chris Magnelli of 755 Duncan Ave. told Washington police Thursday a windowpane was broken in his front door Thursday.
Money stolen: Jessica Baker of 1210 Allison Ave. told Washington police Thursday $100 that belonged to her son was stolen from a lock box in their home.
Purse stolen: Anna Cook of Washington told Washington police early Friday her purse containing her driver’s license and debit card was stolen from the back of a chair while she was at Brew House, 250 S. Main St.
Medication stolen: Mark Kisner of Fayette Street told Washington police early Friday two types of prescription medication were stolen from his home.
