A Washington man, already wanted on drug charges, was arrested Thursday morning after he allegedly struck a woman in the head with a broken piece of concrete during a confrontation at a Canton Township home.

Sidney Skadell Sadler, 50, who gave police the city fire department as his address, was taken into custody at a home at 676 Buena Vista St. after troopers were called about 10:15 a.m. for a report of a burglary at the residence.

Jack Denzil Harris told troopers Sadler was inside his house. The troopers found Sadler and took him into custody.

Ruschell Ann Stone told police she and Tiffany Daniell Hodgson were walking back to the house from a convenience store when they saw Sadler running down the hill with what she described as a brick in his hand.

Stone told police Sadler was yelling at Hodgson, reportedly threatening to harm and kill her. When Sadler caught up to the 26-year-old Hodgson, he allegedly hit her twice in the head and dragged her to the front of Harris’ house, where he punched her in the face, police said.

Hodgson and Stone ran into the house, and Sadler allegedly forced his way into the residence, where police said he got into a shoving match with Harris while holding a screwdriver.

Harris went outside and called 911 while Stone and Hodgson locked themselves into a bedroom.

Stone told police she left the bedroom and confronted Sadler, who had a long kitchen knife in his hand. Sadler again allegedly tried to assault Hodgson and again said he was going to kill her. Stone told police she tried to get the knife from Sadler and Hodgson likely fled during the altercation.

Police said they found the item allegedly used to strike Hodgson in the driveway of Harris’ home. The screwdriver and knife were found in a trash can next to the bathroom.

Sadler was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of aggravated assault, burglary, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, possessing instruments of a crime and harassment. Mark set bond at $50,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Jan. 7 at his office.

Sadler also was arraigned Thursday on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of heroin. A state police vice officer obtained a warrant for Sadler on Dec. 1 from District Judge Robert Redlinger stemming from the alleged sale of heroin to a confidential informant in February 2014.

The informant reportedly told police Sadler was selling the drug at various locations in Washington. The informant made arrangements to drive to the 300 block of Duncan Avenue and was seen by undercover troopers purchasing heroin from Sadler, police said. Mark set bond on the drug charges at $25,000. Sadler is scheduled for a Dec. 22 preliminary hearing before Redlinger.

Sadler was placed in Washington County Jail on a probation warrant in addition to the bond set on the charges.
